Projects
Mahone Bay Nursing Home | Mahone Bay, NS
ThermalWise was contracted by MacLeod Group to conduct water penetration testing at the long-term care facility building located in Mahone Bay, NS.
Testing, conducted in general accordance with ASTM E-1105, was performed on December 16, 2022, on three PVC frame punched windows.
West Royalty Elementary | Charlottetown, PE
MacLean Construction contracted ThermalWise to conduct whole building air tightness testing of the new addition to the West Royalty School located in Charlottetown, PEI.
Highland Village Museum | Iona, NS
ThermalWise conducted whole building air tightness testing at the Highland Village Redevelopment Project in Iona, Nova Scotia. The purpose of the testing was to determine the whole building air tightness at the post-drywall stage of construction.
Kohltech | Bedford, NS
ThermalWise was contracted by Kohltech, to conduct water penetration testing of the vinyl buck and the interface between the buck, the window, and the precast concrete wall panel in which the window was installed. The test specimen mockup was located at the Strescon facility.
Quinpool Tower | Halifax, NS
In May 2022, ThermalWise, at the request of Killam Apartment REIT, performed compartmentalization air leakage testing on a sampling of dwelling units in the Quinpool Tower building located in Halifax, NS.
NSCC Sydney Waterfront Campus | Sydney, NS
Testing, conducted in general accordance with ASTM E-1105, was performed on one Anotec 3400 aluminum frame curtain wall test specimen, and one Antamex aluminum frame curtain wall test specimen.
Alberton Health Centre | Alberton, PEI
ThermalWise completed air tightness testing and air leakage site detection using thermographic imaging at two stages of construction. The first stage was conducted once all building envelope components were installed. The second stage was performed after all building components were in place and construction completed.
General Air Tightness Testing Procedure (based on subsection 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 of section 07 27 00): the mean value of the air leakage flow through the exterior envelope for a negative and positive pressurization air leakage test must not exceed 0.25 CFM/ft2 @75Pa. Air leakage testing is required to be performed in general accordance with ASTM E779 with additional requirements included in the construction specification.
Building Air Leakage Site Detection: thermography-based air leakage site detection took place in conjunction with the air leakage testing for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 testing. This testing was performed in general accordance with ASTM 1186.
499 Wilkinson | Dartmouth, NS
Thermal Wise completed one whole building air leakage test (WBALT) to evaluate the constructed air tightness of the building in question. The test provided the client with the following metrics: air changes per hour at 50 Pa, normalized air leakage rate at 75 Pa (can be used to compare results to default code air leakage rates) and the flow exponent for the test(s) conducted. Testing was conducted in general compliance with ASTM E3158, “Standard Test Method for Measuring the Air Leakage Rate of a Large or Multizone Building.”
Richmond Yards | Halifax, NS
ThermalWise was contracted by Contract Glaziers Inc., to conduct water penetration testing of the CW-05 curtain wall specimen installed at the Richmond Yards building located at 6070 Almon Street, Halifax Nova Scotia. Testing, conducted in general accordance with ASTM E-1105, was performed in April 2022, on a CW-05 curtain wall test specimen.
Alt Hotel | Halifax, NS
ThermalWise was contracted by Marco to conduct forensic water penetration testing of a pre-cast to pre-cast connection and window wall at the Alt Hotel Halifax Airport, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
83 Botsford | Moncton, NB
Botsford in a mixed-use project is located in downtown Moncton, NB. The project is pursuing LEED certification and will be Moncton's first residential LEED project. It will also be Atlantic Canada's first mixed-use LEED-certified building.
Q Lofts | Halifax, NS
Q Lofts is Atlantic Canada's most energy efficient and greenest multi-unit development. A 72-unit condo development of Polycorp, Q Lofts is located in Halifax, NS. The building is constructed with R-30 insulated concrete form walls and triple-glazed windows. ThermalWise was retained by Polycorp to deliver LEED Provider services and a number of building performance testing and verification services.
