If you are in the planning stages of your new home, you may be eligible to take part in Efficiency Nova Scotia’s new EnergyForward New Homes rebate program.

Register your new home build and receive up to $25,000 in incentives to offset costs for energy efficient upgrades.

Eligibility Criteria

Builders and home buyers can register projects. Incentives are paid directly to the registrant, so be sure to discuss with your builder who should register the project.

Register before construction. Your project must be registered within 30 days of receiving your building permit or before construction starts.

Home completion and energy evaluation. Construction must be completed, and the final energy evaluation must be conducted, within 18 months of the project registration date.

Eligible home heating options. Homes heated with oil are ineligible for the program.

Permanent occupancy residential properties. This excludes homes for short-term rentals.

Reduce your annual energy bill to $1000 or less. This protects you from volatile energy prices and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

How to Apply

The cost for this service is $199 + tax and serves as your registration fee for for the EnergyForward New Home program. It covers the costs of your initial and final energy evaluations and ThermalWise’s expert guidance to help you achieve your target annual energy bill and incentive level.

STEP 1

Our Energy Advisors will model your home’s energy performance and recommend energy-saving improvements or upgrades that will help you reach your desired annual energy bill target and incentive level. You will receive a design evaluation tailored to your project.

Review our recommendations

STEP 2

Determine which improvements you want to include in your home and begin construction. Consult your Energy Advisor if you make changes to your home's design or systems after the initial assessment, as these changes may affect your project's incentive eligibility

Complete your home

You have 18 months from your registration date to complete construction of the home. Schedule a final energy evaluation with your Service Organization within 18 months of registration to receive your EnerGuide label and determine your final incentive amount.
