IT’S MORE THAN JUST HEAT PUMPS

Heat pumps are great but there are so many ways you can improve your home’s efficiency. ThermalWise is an approved service organization and our licensed energy advisor's will use their expertise to walk you through all of the options during your Canada Greener Homes Pre-Retrofit Evaluation.

  • Air leakage control is the single most important retrofit activity. It’s your homes primary defense against leaking energy and it should be considered first in any retrofit strategy. Many small air leaks add up and could be equivalant to having a window open year round.

ThermalWise Energy Advisors walk you through the different places air is leaking into your home to help you prioritize your efforts. Here are some of the many places air can leak into your home:

    • Around windows and doors

    • Door thresholds

    • Around switch and outlet covers

    • Other areas specific to your home that you may not have considered

Our Energy Advisors will leave you with an air leakage location checklist to work through, specific to your home.

  • Nobody likes a drafty house. A good building envelope ensures that you are comfortable in your home no matter what the weather. And that’s not all, a tight building envelope also brings cost savings and energy efficiency to your home. See below for some great places to improve your building envelope:

    • Attic insulation

    • Cathedral ceiling insulation

    • Exterior wall insulation

    • Exposed floor Insulation

    • Crawlspace ceiling insulation

    • Basement header insulation

    • Basement slab insulation

    • Replacing windows and doors

  • Upgrading your home’s systems is another component of a comfortable home. Keep your home warm when you want it warm, and cool when you want it cool. Save on your utility bill and reduce your carbon footprint with some of these eligible upgrades:

    • Ground source heat pump

    • Air source heat pumps

    • Cold climate air source heat pumps

    • Heat pump water heater

    • Thermostat

  • Protect your home and family from environmental damage and lessen your homes’ reliance on fossil fuels. Here are some ways you can equip your home:

    • Solar panels

    • Batteries connected to solar panels

    • Roofing membrane

    • Basement wall weatherproofing

    • Moisture proofing crawlspace walls and headers
